My biggest learning since starting my business..

When I made the switch and commitment to focus on my business full time...I had no idea this would be my biggest learning.

....EXPECTATIONS. More precisely the ones I set for myself. The sometimes (or almost always) impossible, set you up to fail, kind. They’re the thing that turn you into the most fun sucking, miserable, micro-managing boss ever.

I’ve been thinking about this topic a lot after we launched vendor registration for VegFest London last week.
⚡️
I started this festival 5 years ago and in our first year we had about 40 vendors. In 9 days we’ve had over 50 vendors apply to participate and we’ll end up with over 150, thanks to our awesome team. I don’t say this to brag, I share it for perspective. If I had expected the event to look like what it does now, 5 years ago, I would have been HUGELY disappointed. And likely would have been miserable in the planning process.

Growth, evolving, building, creating takes time. Yes hacks, beliefs, techniques and processes all *can* move it along more efficiently...but don’t forget things like patience and giving yourself some breathing room too.

The sneaky thing about expectations is they’re disguised as being *helpful*, so we keep them around. Until we realize they actually do the opposite and we’re ready to let them go.
